*the award in the headline doesn't exist, but a Promo Award by MiLB does, and Frisco has a good shot.
2016 Promo Preview: In baseball, capitalizing on your opponent's mistakes is important. In the business of minor league baseball, spotting a trending topic that involves a complete disaster, and creating a whole night around it, isn't just capitalizing on a mistake, but spinning it into fun for the whole family. That's just what the Frisco Roughriders did with 'Runner Up Night.' The promotional night was an answer to a now famous mistake made by Miss Universe pageant host Steve Harvey, when Harvey announced the wrong winner. Frisco, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, announced that they'd be hosting a 'Runner Up Night' to celebrate all those who've fallen just short of victory.
The team invited wrongly-declared winner Miss Columbia, Ariadna Gutiérrez Arevalo, to the April 26th game, offering her a box seat. They've also put out a call to former football player Jim Kelly, pop star Britney Spears (description probably not needed), and singer Adam Lambert, all who've come in 2nd in a contest in their respective industries.
If you've ever been a runner-up raise your hand- *raising hand, 6th grade volleyball team MVP runner up*- and try to be there for what is already a legendary moment in MiLB promotions.
Runners-up, you're the real winners. (not really but, there's nothing can be done)
