RHP Brent Honeywell had to overcome injury and the requisite growing pains this season, and now he's headed to Double-A Montgomery. He finishes his time with the High-A Stone Crabs with a 2.41/0.98 ERA/WHIP through 10 games with 63 strikeouts.
He spoke with 'HOTF' a few hours after receiving the promotion:
Biggest Key to First-Half Success with High-A Charlotte: "Not trying to do too much and just let the game play. One thing at a time. And putting my guys in a spot to win every time is what I try to do."
Working with Pitching Coach Steve 'Doc' Watson: "We just discussed a ton of stuff. Quieting the head down through delivery. Little sharpening and polishing. And location of the cutter was a big help."
On Lessons Learned in High-A: "The more fun you have playing and especially with the group of guys is awesome. I learned a lot about knowledge of the game. Hanging around Doc, MJ [Manager Michael Johns] and Zek [Hitting Coach Joe Szekely] in the dugout."
"The ball is coming out good right now. I just [have to] get guys out."
